 Australian satirical newspaper and podcast The Betoota Advocate (TBA) is heading to Broken Hill to run a podcast workshop aimed at encouraging the involvement of regional youth in media. The publication, which named itself after the deserted town of Betoota in central-west Queensland, called itself "Australia's oldest newspaper" and has published several stories about Broken Hill. The program held this weekend is designed for people aged 16-30 who want to build their skills in radio. Hasler was sacked last week in the aftermath of a disastrous season finale at the Sea Eagles that was punctuated by the introduction of the "everyone in league jersey" for round 20. Delivered poorly and without consultation, the Pride jersey led to seven players — Koula, Haumole Olakau'atu, Josh Schuster, Josh Aloiai, Jason Saab, Toafoa Sipley and Christian Tuipolotu — refusing to take the field against the Roosters, due to their personal beliefs. NSW government loses Fair Work Commission bid to stop rail industrial action

 Sydney commuters will continue to be plagued by rail delays after the NSW government failed to shut down planned industrial action. The government made an application with the Fair Work Commission to halt the action which would see only 25 per cent of trains on the tracks operational. While the industrial action scheduled for Wednesday will go ahead, Metropolitan Roads Minister Natalie Ward said the government had taken a "win". Environmental dam water released automatically by law, even under flood conditions, 'needs to change'

 The New South Wales Water Minister says an impractical rule that has increased flooding risks on a number of occasions "needs to change" urgently, but a missed deadline means it will be at least another 12 months before it is fixed. A rule in the Water Sharing Plan for the Macquarie and Cudgegong Regulated Rivers Water Source 2016 legislation has on numerous occasions seen water automatically released out of a half-full Windamere Dam, near Mudgee, while the region's water systems are already experiencing flood conditions. On Sunday, water was released out of Windamere into an already inundated Cudgegong River for five hours, at a time Mudgee roads were flooded, properties were saturated, and rivers were full.
